Stockholm Design Week 2011: Vindobona by Claesson Koivisto Rune @ Åmells

The similarities between Vienna and Stockholm are not limited to the architecture per se.
But also to the architects who open the Design Weeks.
At least for us!

For just as at Vienna Design Week, so was our first Stockholm Design Week vernissage Vindobona by Claesson Koivisto Rune.

It may not have been in quite so splendorous a setting as the Palais Liechtenstein; however the showrooms of Stockholm art dealer Åmells were a more than fitting location for Claesson Koivisto Rune’s entrancing glass and silver tableware collection.

The official opening was somewhat delayed by the fact that Claesson Koivisto Rune had been busy picking up the Elle Interior Designer of the Year Award – once again congratulations from us – however the delay could not dampen the expectations of the specially invited guests.

Created in collaboration with the Vienna crystal maker Lobmeyr and the Wiener Silber Manufaktur, Vindobona is a delightful range of crystal carafes that not only have their own drinking vessels but can be elegantly transformed into vases.

That Vindobona by Claesson Koivisto Rune opened Stockholm Design Week 2011 was also fitting as it is fair to say that the whole 2011 Stockholm Design Week stands under star of the Stockholm architecture and design office – at the last count there were four Claesson Koivisto Rune events in the programme.

Something even the Bouroullec’s rarely manage in Milan………

And a further crystal legacy from Vienna Design Week will be occupying us in the coming weeks: the latest developments in Mark Braun’s Fortune water carafe series for Lobmeyr will be presented in Milan.

But more on that in April.
