Joe Colombo

 
Cesare "Joe" Colombo (* 30. July 1930 in Milan/Italy; † 30. July 1971 in Milan/Italy),studied art at the Accademia die Bella Art in Bera and architecture at the Polytechnikum in Milan. In 1962 he opened hi own design studio in Milan and quickly rise to become of Italy's best known and most prolific designers. Together with his brother Gianni, Colombo created for all futuristic and highly innovative furniture pieces including the chair Universale 4867 for Kartell - the first chair to be moulded from a single material. Joe Colombo died from heart failure in 1971 aged just 41.
