Sidse Werner

The Danish architect and industrial designer Sidse Werner was born in 1931 and studied at the College of Architecture and Industrial Design in Copenhagen. Following several years as an assistant in the office of Nanna Ditzel in 1969 she was given the opportunity to study plastic production in the USA by the Danish National Bank's Jubilee Foundation. In 1970 she established her own studio from where she designed furniture, carpets, lamps and accessories, gaining international recognition through her Series 9 umbrella stand from 1971, as well as her Coat Tree coat stand from 1972: objects which are still produced by Fritz Hansen and which made Sidse Werner a household name in all the design metropolises of the world - London, Paris, New York, San Francisco, Cologne, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Stockholm, Milan.
