Eames Tables

Eames Coffee Table from Vitra

Eames tables for office and dining room

Whereas the Eames Tables may be less popularly known than the Eames Lounge Chair or the Fiberglass Chairs, they are just as interesting and today count among the absolute classics of furniture design. For both Charles and Ray Eames it was particularly important to think in terms of systems and to design tables in context. The first drafts of the Segmented Tables and Contract Tables, for example, were created in the 1940s, the final works in the 1960s as part of the development of the Soft Pad Chairs. Formally restrained, the Vitra Contract and Segmented Tables have not only timeless charm but evolving functionalities, and, for example, are available today with electrification or wireless charging. Although the Segmented Tables are today principally found in the office and conference sector, they were originally intended for the living area, where the Eames dining table was the heart of convivial rounds: Ray and Charles Eames focusing as they did on the "relationship" in their works - both in design and in everyday life.

Eames design classic LTR Occasional Table

Eames side tables for the living area

In addition to dining tables and desks for the office or home office, Charles and Ray Eames also designed side tables, works which today gracefully decorate houses and apartments and which can be used, for example, as a coffee table in the living room or as an elegant bedside table. Amongst the Vitra Eames table collection one finds the characteristic "rod base" frame of bent and braced steel wire, a base concept employed in numerous Eames Plastic Chairs, Eames Fiberglass Chairs, and the famous LTR Occasional Table, the most famous Eames side table.
