Design Story

As part of the "Black Collection" Vitra offers the Petal Clock by George Nelson in a black version as Petal Clock Black. The George Nelson Petal Clock belongs to the series of Vitra Wall Clocks, designed between 1948 and the 70s. In his clock collection the designer and architect George Nelson incorporated the positive optimism of the 50s, being as he was the opinion that one must offer people designs suitable for the future rather than the past: in addition the Petal Black wall clock, which is constructed from black MDF with a centerpiece made of brass and white clock hands is a particularly elegant eye-catcher in any location. In addition, the Vitra clock features a high quality quartz movement. George Nelson established his design office in 1946, from where he developed numerous designs, many of which are now considered icons of the "Mid-Century-Modern", his co-operations with Vitra date back to 1957.
