Louis Weisdorf

Like so many of his Danish design colleagues, Louis Weisdorf began his career at Denmark's most prestigious design institution - the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Following his graduation he began a long, successful career, in the course of which the multi-talented Weisdorf was active as a graphic, interior and product designer. Louis Weisdorf worked with Verner Panton, Poul Henningsen and Le Klint, whose studio was founded in Copenhagen in 1965. He assisted architect Simon Henningsen for several years with the design of Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Today, Louis Weisdorf is best known for his elaborate lighting designs, which he realised during the 1960s and 1970s for the manufacturer Lyfa. The Multi-Lite pendant light, which is produced today by Gubi, distinguishes itself, as with most lamps from Weisdorf, by its variable construction principle and its sophisticated shade technology.
