The Vitra Akari 16A ceiling light was designed by Isamu Noguchi in 1951 and is one of over 100 Akari Light Sculptures created by the Japanese-American artist and designer. The term "akari" is Japanese for brightness and light and so more than suitable for the soothing light-giving Akari series of table, floor or ceiling lamps made of Washi paper that Vitra produces today.
