With the rapidly changing world of work, design classics also remain in motion, and so the Thonet family is expanded in 2019 with the S 64 VDR Atelier swivel chair, a design by Thonet & Christophe Marchand based on Marcel Breuer's classic S 64 cantilever chair from 1929. As with the Thonet Bauhaus classic, the S 64 Atelier seat and backrest are in the enduring wicker design; the seat however stands on a central base with rollers and can swivel. In the form of the S 64 Atelier swivel chair, the Bauhaus chair S 64 is the ideal companion for the home office and makes the classic Thonet tubular steel more flexible and mobile than ever - a classic that adapts to the 21st century.

As seat surfaces are often exposed to heavy loads, the seat wicker workis reinforced as standard with a transparent, sturdy plastic mesh (support fabric).
|Care||Natural materials need special attention. The wicker work should be moistened regularly on the rough bottom/back to maintain its elasticity - this is especially important in dry or air conditioned areas. Dryness over a long time makes the natural material fragile and prone to cracking. If threads come loose, they can be re-attached with glue. Focussed heavy load should be avoided at all times.
