The Skagerak Indoor Collection from Fritz Hansen
The Danish family business Skagerak, from whom the Skagerak collections of the Fritz Hansen brand originate, was founded in 1976 in Aalborg and offers not only high-quality outdoor furniture collections but also numerous furniture options for the home. In the name of Scandinavian design, the manufacturer's portfolio mainly includes product series with a reduced design idiom such as the Georg Collection or the Cutter Collection. The latter includes, for example, the Cutter Bench, which was originally designed by Niels Hvass for the "Walk the Plank" exhibition. Inspired by the Bauhaus movement, the idea arose to design a minimalist bench with a seat made of individual struts. The Georg Dining Table by designer Chris Liljenberg Halstrøm is also a popular Skagerak piece of furniture; because despite its Scandinavian simplicity, the table exudes a harmonious warmth on account of its materials and shape. In addition to their design advantages, the Skagerak collections also score in terms of sustainability: The Danish furniture manufacturer uses only ecologically grown wood species, including teak, oak and cedar, and strives to develop particularly durable furniture that is so robust that it can be passed on from generation to generation. The manufacturer owes its name to the Skagerrak Strait, which runs from the northern tip of Denmark and connects the country with Sweden and Norway.
