Jo Hammerborg
After completing an apprenticeship as a silversmith and spending eight years at the renowned Danish silver brand Georg Jensen, Jo Hammerborg took over the management of the lighting manufacturer Fog & Mørup in 1957. Born in 1920 in Randers, Denmark, the designer was an ingenious lighting design specialist and created numerous lamps, lamps which typically combined simple design with modern lighting technology. However it was not only in the artistic sense that Jo Hammerborg and Fog & Mørup were successful, also financially the cooperation proved very fruitful. Jo Hammerborg, who died in a tragic accident in 1982, became famous for his lamps and received numerous prizes. One of his most famous pieces is the Orient Pendant Lamp, which has been reissued since 2013 by Lightyears by Fritz Hansen.
