Victoria Wilmotte – The Art of the Perfect Curve
Victoria Wilmotte was born in Paris in 1985. After studying interior design at the École Camondo in Paris she completed a master's degree in product design under Ron Arad at the Royal College of Art in London before returning to Paris in 2008 where she founded her own design studio. The following year Wilmotte exhibited works at the Tools Gallery in Paris, and in 2009 held her first solo exhibition at the Galerie Pierre Bergé & Associés in Brussels.
Since when Wilmotte has realised projects for international manufacturers and institutions, including ClassiCon, Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Legrand, Poliform, Ikea, La Redoute, Vervloet, Wallpaper, and Land Rover. Her Piega mirror for ClassiCon very neatly illustrates her precise and sculptural method.
Wilmotte's design process is similar to that of a sculptor: she considers volumes, proportions and surfaces, searches for the ideal angle or the perfect curve, and treats the surfaces of her designs until they have the desired feel and appearance.
