Fabio Meliota, designer of Fermob's Basket planter, hails from the Puglia region on the heel of the "Italian boot" and from where he travelled to Pescara, on the calf, to architecture, his final dissertation reflecting on “The bathroom in Le Corbusier’s architecture”. Upon his graduation Meliota joined Enzo Calabrese's studio, where he realized architectural projects and product designs for clients such as Rapsel, Lema and the parquet manufacturer Listone Giordano, for whom the modular system B:Room, which was nominated for the Compasso d'Oro in 2017. In 2012 Fabio Meliota founded his own studio eF/eM, initially in Rome and now based in Genoa.
Despite all its versatility, Meliota's work is characterized by clear linearity. Meliota creates discreet, elegant and practical designs with simple details, based on well thought-out concepts and his wide range of experience as an architect and designer.
