The Ball Bubble and its twin, the Saucer Bubble, are lighting classics re-launched by HAY and Herman Miller. George Nelson, who was Herman Miller's design director for almost 20 years, designed the Bubble lamps in 1947 as a cheaper and more durable alternative to classic lampshades, by spraying the steel skeleton with plastic threads instead of silk.
