Johannes Foersom and Peter Hiort-Lorenzen, a.k.a. design studio Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen MDD, have over 35 years of experience in furniture and product design, as well as design consulting.
Focussing on a holistic design process – from the initial idea through close collaboration with clients and manufacturers to the finished product - Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen's designs combine functionality with a precise eye for form, materials and craftsmanship with many of their pieces characterised by architectural clarity and distinctive expressiveness.
Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen MDD have collaborated with a variety of companies throughout their careers including Cane-line, Fritz Hansen, Hay, Marimekko, Lammhults Möbel AB, SAS, and Volvo. Their work has received numerous awards and is included in the collections of international museums, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and the Design Museum Denmark in Copenhagen.
Johannes Foersom, born in 1947, is a trained cabinetmaker and designer. In addition to his design work he has taught for many years and has been involved in various design committees.
Peter Hiort-Lorenzen, born in 1943, trained as a ship's carpenter and designer. After working in several architecture and design studios he founded his own office in 1980. He, too, has worked for many years in organisations dedicated to the further development of Danish design.
