Thau & Kallio
The CVs of the designers Jakob Thau and Sami Kallio display certain parallels: Both first completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter before studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and receiving a master's degree from the College of Art and Design (HDK) at the University of Gothenburg. With understated design, their furniture reflects at all times the typically minimalist Scandinavian design with a particularly sophisticated accent. Thau & Kallio prefer to work with wood and traditional crafts, placing original materials in a modern context and using current techniques. Sustainability is always a big topic here: Thau & Kallio furniture is functional, high-quality and durable. For the Danish manufacturer &Tradition Thau and Kallio designed a chair with the sympathetic name Betty - named after the Betty Nansen Theater in Copenhagen, which since 1857 has been part of the thriving entertainment district at the Frederiksbergs Allé. With Betty, Thau & Kallio combine practicality and comfortable seating, allowing absolute freedom of use in the public or private spaces.
