Welling/Ludvik
Design studio Welling/Ludvik was founded in Copenhagen in 2010 by Hee Welling and Gudmundur Ludvik: two designers with extensive experience in the fields of craftsmanship, art and design.
Hee Welling, born in Denmark in 1974, studied at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki and later earned a master's degree in furniture design from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. In 2003 he founded his own studio and collaborated with leading international manufacturers such as Hay, &Tradition or Cane-line. His work has received prestigious awards such as the BoBedre Design Award and the Good Design Award and has been exhibited worldwide.
Gudmundur Ludvik, born in Iceland in 1970, began his career as a cabinetmaker and furniture maker before studying sculpture at the Icelandic Academy of Fine Arts. After moving to Copenhagen he studied furniture design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and, after graduating in 2002, opened his own studio in Denmark. Ludvik is best known for its ability to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern design technologies.
As Welling/Ludvik the two designers jointly develop furniture, lighting and accessories that balance comfort, material efficiency, construction, price and environmental friendliness. Their design style is clear, functional and reduced to the essentials – every detail has a specific function. Welling/Ludvik combine traditional craftsmanship techniques with modern production methods, always with the goal of creating long-lasting and resource-saving products.
For Cane-line, Welling/Ludvik have designed a range of outdoor furniture and accessories that combine Scandinavian clarity with sustainable thinking. These designs include, for example, the Choice Armchair and the striking Peacock lounge chair, which are characterised by outstanding comfort, innovative material choices and contemporary functionality.
