The Leggera chair is based on designs by Gio Ponti from 1952. Cassina took up the chair again in 2017 and is now producing this masterpiece of carpentry. The 646 Leggera has legs with an almost round cross-section and convinces above all through the combination of high stability as well as the simplicity and lightness of its design. It is not without reason that the simple wooden chair was named after the Italian word for lightness.

What is the difference between the 646 Leggera and the Superlegerra?

The Cassina Leggera is a wooden chair and the flagship of the partnership between Gio Ponti, Cesare Cassina and the company's carpentry experts. In 1957, Ponti revised his basic design once again - the resulting Superleggera impressed with its technically elaborate details and its extremely low weight, to which it owes its name. Both designs can only be distinguished at second glance. The main difference concerns proportions and details; in the Leggera, the side parts of the back are rounded, in the Superleggera they are triangular.
