Ernst Moeckl
During the 1950s and 60s, Ernst Moeckl, a designer graduate of the University of Applied Sciences in Ulm, was one of the best-known in his trade. After opening his own industrial design office in the early 1960s he realized numerous projects for companies all over Germany. Today, Ernst Moeckl is known as the originator of the so-called Z Chair, also known as the Moecklschwinger, Kangaroo chair or Crouching man and reissued by the Chemnitz based manufacturer Pestel. The plastic cantilever chair, one of the first of its kind, and was designed by Moeckl in the late sixties, entering production at the beginning of the seventies and achieving success in East and West Germany.
