FAQ
How do I recognise an original Bertoia Bar Stool?
The Knoll logo is engraved on the frame.
Although primarily active as a sculptor in the 1950s Harry Bertoia created a number of seats from filigree steel wire for the American manufacturer Knoll International, including the famous Bertoia Chair from 1952 and the formally related Knoll Diamond Chair. As with the Bertoia Bar Stool these seating designs are crafted from hand welded steel wire, a material Harry Bertoia had previously used in his sculptural metal works and thus meaning from an artistic perspective the Bertoia chair designs more than justify Harry Bertoia's description of them as "studies in space, form and metal". The luxurious Knoll Bertoia Bar Stool consists of a sophisticated, long-legged base on top of which is placed a slightly curved, rounded seat shell. Whether with cushions, fully upholstered or without pads, the Harry Bertoia stool is perfect as light but elegant seating for bars or counters in public and domestic environments.
