Guilherme Torres – Perfection as principle

The famous lines of the French house duo Daft Punk can be found on both the skin of Brazilian designer Guilherme Torres and on the wall of his studio: "Work it harder, make it better, do it faster, make us stronger." This mantra accurately describes the attitude of the internationally renowned architect and designer. Torres considers himself a perfectionist and never tires of reworking forms, details and materials until they meet his vision of perfection.

Torres' works are characterised by a clear formal language and minimalist details, combined with an expressive yet restrained range of materials. He particularly enjoys testing the limits of natural stone, concrete, wood and metal elements, combining them to create surprising, often sculptural spatial arrangements. This creates a dynamic that lends his designs an extraordinary originality. Exemplary of this are his architectural projects, such as the V2 House in São Paulo or the BT House in Maringá, where he plays with contrasts: noble marble meets dark ebony, monolithic concrete meets warm wooden elements. Furniture classics and custom-made individual pieces blend into spaces that appear both elegant and experimental.

Torres remains true to his signature style in product design as well. For ClassiCon he designed the Bow Coffee Table, whose futuristic lines and sophisticated material variations – from aluminium and brass to tabletops made of glass and marble – set extravagant accents both individually and in groups. Guilherme Torres's interior design style combines modern design with skilfully staged retro elements of mid-century design. The result is works that impress with their modernity, precision and expressiveness, yet never appear obtrusive, always exuding a subtle elegance.
