Design Story

The Componibili door for the large square Componibili element is part of the Componibili series from Kartell. For use with the large square Componibili element the door, as with the optional castors allows for the creation of a Componibili system suitable for your individual needs. Designed by Anna Castelli Ferrieri in 1968 the Kartell plastic containers have, thanks largely to their variety of uses and universal applicability, blossomed into genuine design classics. Kartell was founded near Milan in 1949 by the chemist Giulio Castelli, the husband of the architect Anna Ferrieri. Anna Castelli Ferrieri served as Kartell's chief designer and in addition to stewarding the company towards its reputation for high quality contemporary furniture design, Castelli Ferrieri also contributed the practical pedestals to that growing reputation. Featuring a large storage compartment each Componibili unit provides ample storage space, while the units themselves are suitable for use in any room; be that, for example, as organisation aid in the office or in the bathroom, as a side table with storage possibility in the living room or as a bedside table in the bedroom. The Kartell Componibili family has won numerous international awards and is represented in permanent collections of the New York Museum of Modern Art and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
