Jette Scheib: Organic design with a focus on the senses

Jette Scheib studied product design at the Berlin University of the Arts and founded her own design studio after graduating in 2005. In the years that followed, she developed lighting, home accessories and gift items for international companies and worked on projects across various areas of product design. Between 2009 and 2012, she returned to the Berlin University of the Arts as a lecturer before once again devoting herself more fully to her own design practice. Since 2018, she has focused in particular on interior and lighting design.

At the heart of Jette Scheib’s design lies a close observation of the environment. She draws inspiration from the organic forms and structures found in nature, as well as from everyday situations and the way people interact with their surroundings. These observations give rise to objects that combine high functionality with an emotional and sensory dimension.

Scheib pays particular attention to the interplay of form, structure and materiality, which is also evident in her lighting designs. In addition to working with natural woven and organic materials for international manufacturers such as Forestier, this approach is also reflected in her collaboration with Le Klint . For this long-established Danish company, she translated her organically inspired design language into the brand’s characteristic art of folding with the Urchina pendant light.
