Todd Bracher

Todd Bracher was born in New York in 1974 and graduated from the city's Pratt Institute in 1996, before transferring to Europe: first Copenhagen - the city of his idols Arne Jacobsen and Poul Kjærholm - and later London, Paris, and Madrid. In 1999 he founded his label Todd Bracher, the first commercial design being the sofa Freud for Italian furniture manufacturer Zanotta. After completing his MFA in interior design and furniture design at Danmarks Designskole, Bracher became chief designer at Tom Dixon in London. From 2003 to 2005 he taught as a design professor at the ESAD in Reims in France and grew from employee to the creative director at Georg Jensen. In addition, he has designed objects for major manufacturers such as Cappellini, Fritz Hansen, Issey Miyake, 3M, and also SodaStream. The designer, who has been working from Brooklyn, New York since 2007, describes his philosophy as follows: "Every design is about the subtle balance between the overdesigner and the subdesigner, I like a table which looks as if it couldn't be others, as if it is the result of a long, natural movement." His Tod side table for Zanotta demonstrates this very clearly.
