Form follows function: The design of Simon Schoßböck

Born in 1990 in Eggenfelden designer Simon Schoßböck combines technical expertise with a clear, function-oriented design style. After training as an engineer in the field of automation technology he discovered his passion for design in 2010 when he became technical director at Martin Ballendat's studio. In the following years he worked as a product designer and implemented projects in the field of engine technology.

In 2020 Schoßböck founded 07eins GmbH, specialising in automotive engine technology and proprietary developments in the field of combustion engines. This financial foundation enabled the launch of his own design studio, geschoßboeck.design, in 2021, which develops cross-industry furniture and product concepts for international clients.

Schoßböck's design approach is holistic: brand style, manufacturing processes, materials, functionality and ergonomics all flow equally into the design. His guiding principle is "form follows function" – function and design form an inseparable unity. Products should appear technically honest by following the basic principles of technology. Efficient engineering, innovative functions, and sustainable design also characterise the design of his Equo office swivel chair from Bene.
