Before the Vitra Sofa Alcove by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the term "alcove" only referred to a niche, as it were, a room within a room. Exactly this idea was taken by the Bouroullec brothers in the development of the Alcove Sofa. Thus the Vitra sofa is not only equipped with comfortable seat and back cushions, but has high side and rear walls composed of flexible, glass fibre reinforced panels, which protect the sitter but also provide open space within a room. Thus the Alcove forms a cosy place of retreat and relaxation, but remains equally accessible for meetings and exchanges. The Vitra Alcove Sofa is available in three different sizes. A three seater, a two seater and a love seat all of which can be combined to create larger arrangements between and can, if required, be extended by an additional, complementing Vitra Cushion Set.
