Ronan Bouroullec
Ronan Bouroullec (* 1971 in Quimper, Brittany) is one of the most influential designers on the international design scene. After graduating from the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in Paris, he founded his own studio in 1996. Shortly thereafter, his younger brother Erwan Bouroullec joined him. From 1999 to early 2024 they jointly ran Studio Bouroullec in Paris.
The brothers' design repertoire ranged from everyday objects and furniture for living and working spaces to expansive architectural projects. In addition to designing products such as vases, porcelain, jewellery and home accessories, an intensive exploration of space was a central element of their work.
Ronan Bouroullec's designs are characterised by a clear, reduced formal language, often combined with organic-looking structures. His designs demonstrate a keen sense of proportion and function, combining effortless elegance with lightness. In addition to furniture, he also creates paintings, objects, and drawings, some of which were on display in the "Résonance" exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris.

The Bouroullecs' long-standing partners include renowned brands such as Vitra, Magis, Flos, Hay and Kvadrat. Furniture designs for Vitra include the Alcove Sofa and the Belleville collection. Numerous designs by the brothers are now represented in museums such as the MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Design Museum in London.
After dissolving the brothers' shared studio in early 2024, Ronan Bouroullec returned to working independently. For example, the Courier desk was created for Vitra in 2025. Ronan Bouroullec is also increasingly devoting himself to lighting design and the development of individual objects with a more artistic dimension.
