About Steffen Kehrle

Steffen Kehrle (*1976 in Illertissen) is a German designer and professor of object and furniture design at Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences. After studying industrial design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, he founded his own studio in 2009: ASK - Atelier Steffen Kehrle in Munich.

Kehrle's work is characterised by reduced, functional and universal design. His designs follow a clear approach: design puts people at the centre, is conceived sustainably and consistently questions the status quo. Together with his team, he realises products, furniture, exhibitions and interiors with an interdisciplinary, holistic approach.

In the field of furniture design, Steffen Kehrle became known to a wide audience with the Mono step stool for Richard Lampert. Other key designs include the Bazar coat rack and the OneTwo mirror for Richard Lampert. In addition to his design practice, Kehrle has been involved in academic teaching for many years - with stints at the Kunsthochschule Kassel and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano before accepting an appointment at the TH Rosenheim in 2023.
