Bertjan Pot

The Dutch designer Bertjan Pot is best known for his Random Light, which has been produced by Moooi since 1999. The lamp design began with a material investigation, from which the unstructured, permeable surface of the lamp body arose. And this approach of allowing the object to arise from the materials is one regularly followed by Bertjan Pot: consequently the furnishings, which are produced by international manufacturers such as Moooi or Richard Lampert, invariably have their very own character and form. Bertjan Pot studied at the Academy of Design in Eindhoven, has been working as an independent designer since 2003 and has won the Elle Decor Award for his Carbon Chair, a work which he has developed together with Marcel Wanders and is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, MoMA, New York.
