One year after designing the Pastil Chair, eero Aarnio won the 1968 American Industrial Award for the design. The New York Times wrote "...the most comfortable forms to hold up the human body...", and the Conran's Design Dictionary says "... they look like essays in period style, perhaps from Barbarella".
