Xavier Mañosa & Mashallah
The four versions of the Pleat Box lamp are the first joint project of the industrial and cemaric designer Xavier Mañosa, the Catalan lamp manufacturer Marset, and Mashallah, a design studio based in Berlin. Xavier Mañosa was born in Barcelona in 1981 and has already developed into one of the leading ceramic designers of his generation. He lived for some time in Berlin, where he worked as a designer, but returned to Barcelona in 2009 to work there in his family's craft business. In his work, Mañosa repeatedly experimented with different materials, not only with ceramics - and that is what distinguishes him from many of his colleagues: pieces by him, and his studio Apparatu have been regularly exhibited at contemporary design exhibitions around the world, from Tokyo to New York to Stockholm or Barcelona. Mashallah, in turn, is an interdisciplinary design studio based in Berlin, which was founded in 2008 by Hande Akçayli and Murat Koçyigit. Akçayli studied design and experimental fashion in Moscow, Istanbul, and Berlin while Koçyigit studied industrial design with a focus on process design at the Berlin University of the Arts. Together, they form the core of their design studios Mashallah, in which they dedicate themselves to fashion and product design.
