How do I recognise an original Wagenfeld WG 25 GL lamp?

Each lamp is numbered consecutively and carries the Bauhaus and Tecnolumen logo.

What is the difference between the Wagenfeld Lamps?

Design Story

After his apprenticeship as a technical draughtsman, Wilhelm Wagenfeld joined the metal workshop at Bauhaus Weimar, where he was given the task of designing a table light by the then "form master" László Moholy-Nagy. The result was the world-famous Bauhaus Lamp, whose timeless glass dome shade and sturdy pedestal fit effortlessly into every living area. Due to the popularity of the lamp it is often copied or falsified, thus manufacturer Tecnolumen embosses the underside of each and every lamp with a progressive serial number, the company logo and the Bauhaus emblem. The Wagenfeld lamp is now produced in four versions, all based on authentic designs by Professor Wilhelm Wagenfeld. The special feature of the WG 25 GL is in its stand, which features a mix of nickel-plated metal and glass. Despite Wagenfeld's efforts to design mass-produced articles, the Bauhaus lamp was originally hand finished. Since 1980, Tecnolumen has retained the exclusive rights to Wagenfeld's designs and, in addition to the WG 25 GL, also produces the WA 24 with metal foot, the WG 24 with its glass base and the WA 23 SW with its black lacquered metal stand.
