Between cute and modern: Peach Fuzz - Pantone Colour of the Year 2024

PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz has been chosen as the Colour of the Year 2024 - symbolizing our desire to care for ourselves and others. The all-encompassing aura of this velvety, soft peach tone has a calming effect on the mind, body and soul. When developing this colour, the focus was on the longing for closeness and connection, to this end Peach Fuzz exudes warmth and modern elegance, and its soft shade conveys compassion like a tangible hug. The colour effortlessly bridges youthfulness and timelessness, and its choice reflects the importance of emotional resonance in shaping our surroundings in 2024.

A prime example of the bridge between the past and modernity, between warmth and elegance: the Vitra Lounge Chair in Nubia peach/ivory

Peach Fuzz 13-1023, a friendly, fresh peach tone, has a subtly sensual effect and conveys a feeling of kindness and tenderness. This colour conveys a message of care, sharing, community and cooperation, and at the same time, the warm colour symbolizes the desire for a moment of silence, thereby creating a feeling of calm and security. The peach tone between pink and orange promotes belonging and realignment and creates space for caring. Its presence conjures up an atmosphere of calm that offers us a place to be, feel, heal and flourish. This soulful, sweet and airy peach tone brings beauty to the digital and now also to the interior world.

Fascinating world of colours: Pastel

Eames Plastic Chairs from Vitra in delicate pastel tones

We all associate pastel colours like mint green, vanilla or lilac with America of the 1950s – with the light-heartedness of ice cream, Cadillacs and petticoats. From a technical point of view, pastel colours are colours with a high proportion of white, which transforms the respective colour into a light, delicate to pale shade. The colour intensity is softened and colours such as red, green or blue are transformed into pastel tones such as dusty pink, mint green and light blue. In art history, so-called pastel painting stands for a technique in which pigmented chalks are used to draw on paper. Here the white of the paper background shines through the delicate layers of paint and gives the colours an airy and light effect. Of course, all these positive properties also come into their own when decorating the interior with pastel colours. Contrary to their childish and frivolous reputation, pastel tones appear minimalist, noble and clear when used correctly: mood-enhancing accents with furniture and accessories in pastel tones are very much in vogue and are best shown off in combination with pure white or muted grey tones. The combination of wood tones and pastel colours, which Scandinavian labels like to fall back on, is particularly popular. Due to the pleasant and refreshing effect, contemporary furniture designs, lights and accessories are increasingly shining in elegant pastel colours, while furniture manufacturers such as Fritz Hansen or Louis Poulsen regularly launch re-editions of famous design classics in new pastel tones.
