FAQ
How do I recognise an original Saarinen oval side table?
The logo "Knoll" can be found on the underside of the table. A name badge with the logo "KnollStudio" and the signature of the designer is also located either under the table top or on the table top support.
The Knoll Saarinen oval side table is one of the numerous coffee, dining and side tables the designer and architect Eero Saarinen created in 1950s for the furniture manufacturer Knoll International. The inspiration for the so-called Pedestal Collection, a collection which also includes the famous Tulip Chair, was Saarinen's desire to solve the problem of the "ugly and restless world" of chair and table legs, which he perceived as a nuisance. He thus created a furniture family with a single, columnar, base which through the rejection of the usual four legs exudes a new peace and harmony. Considered a sensational piece of innovation at the time, the pedestal base and table top are so interconnected that they form a self-contained, soft form. Constructed from high-quality materials and exuding the timeless elegance that invariably arises from well considered design the oval Saarinen side table is a tasteful, graceful and for all contemporary addition to any living room.
