Panton Wire

Panton Wire unit from Montana with top plate

With the Panton Wire shelf Verner Panton developed in the 1970s a universally applicable design object. Produced by Montana the filigree metal struts arranged next to each other allow the experimental shelf to appear light and elegant, while at the same time testifying to its industrial character. Panton Wire elements can be used individually or connected to form larger units such as room dividers. In combination with a top plate, the Panton Wire can effortlessly become a coffee table. Designer Verner Panton founded his own design and architecture studio in 1955 and caused a stir with his furniture designs, which are characterized primarily by geometric shapes and strong colours. At the end of the 1950s, Panton developed the famous, and eponymously named, Panton Chair for Vitra, one of the most important classics in design history.
