About Artek

The Finnish designer furniture manufacturer Artek was established in 1935 by four young idealists: Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen, Nils-Gustav Hahl and Alvar Aalto whose furniture and light designs to this day define the image of Artek. In the intervening years other designers, including, amongst others, lmari Tapiovaara, Eero Aarnio and Enzo Mari have however also contributed to the distinctive assortment of tables, chairs, armchairs, stools and lamps. Typically made of wood Artek furniture is traditionally defined by clear and simple forms and a unique combination of functionality, aesthetics and heat.
